Explore Your Archive: a series of events at Gwent Archives. During Explore Your Archive week this year we will be running a series of talks, creative workshops and introductory sessions including papermaking, family history and house history. On 30th November there will be an Open Day when you can visit our Research Room, speak to our staff and have a behind-the-scenes tour. You can find more information by clicking here.

Explore Your Archive: a series of events at Bangor University Archives and Special Collections. During Explore Your Archive week this year we will be running a series of workshops in the Education Room of the Archives. This is a great opportunity to get to know our collections better and to understand more about the expertise of some of our academics at the University. A presentation at the National Library of Wales: 30 Years an archivist: Reflections on a career at the Library. To coincide with the Explore Your Archive week, Sally McInnes looks back on 30 years of working as an Archivist in the Library. Using examples drawn from her experience, Sally reflects on the ways in which the Library has continued to collect, preserve and provided access to its collections in the context of changing times. A free event at Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales – Discovering Twentieth-century Heritage in Wales. A talk by Royal Commission Senior Investigator, Susan Fielding, at 12:00 in the National Library of Wales Education Room. Also, guided tours of our archives: 11:00 (English) 14:30 (Welsh). A Denbighshire Archives event – An Evening of Talks: Archives of The North Wales Hospital. Join Denbighshire Archives and project staff as they mark the end of the ‘Unlocking the Asylum’ project and officially launch the final catalogue, online guide and pop up exhibition which have been created over the last two years. This event will feature talks from staff about the project, and a representative of Denbighshire County Council who will talk about the future of the former hospital site. The evening will also include a second chance to view the exhibition of original hospital documents from this year’s Open Doors event. The event is free but booking is essential. More details here.

An event at Conwy Archive Service: Farewell Open Day. Next year, Conwy Archive will be moving to a new home in the Conwy Culture Centre. We would like to thank the many people who have worked here, volunteered here, and supported our work since 1996, and so we will be holding a Farewell Open Day on 13th December 2019. We will have an exhibition of documents relating to the history of the school that has played such a large part in the lives of so many Llandudno people, along with a display about the new Conwy Culture Centre. There will be opportunities to share memories with staff over a cup of tea or coffee and a cake.
