This image shows the earliest known plan of the town Milford in Pembrokeshire. It was designed by J. Stedman Whitwell and dates back to December 2nd, 1813. Milford has a rich cultural history being located on one of the world’s deepest natural harbours, it was once a Royal Naval Dockyard, and a landing location for Henry Tudor. This image from West Glamorgan Archive Service shows the Morriston Orpheus Choir. It is a part of a collection they received that holds materials relating to the choir as far back as before its inception in 1935. The choir itself began in April 1935 under the guidance of Ivor E Sims. The choir itself is committed to upholding its ethos of ‘making music joyously’. Welsh songs and music has always been a proud focus in their repertoire. Mae'r ddelwedd hon o Wasanaeth Archifau Gorllewin Morgannwg yn dangos Côr Meibion Orffews Treforys. Mae'n rhan o gasgliad sy'n dal deunyddiau sy'n ymwneud â'r côr cyn belled yn ôl â chyn ei sefydlu ym 1935. Dechreuodd y côr ym mis Ebrill 1935 dan arweiniad Ivor E Sims. Mae'r côr wedi ymrwymo i gynnal ei ethos o 'wneud cerddoriaeth yn llawen', ac mae caneuon a cherddoriaeth Gymreig bob amser wedi bod yn ffocws balch yn eu repertoire. While majority of archival documents are made up of documents and photography, West Glamorgan Archives Service a few objects alongside their collection! These include a uniform badge, helmet, and part of an extinguishing device used by the National and Auxiliary Fire Services during WW2! Er bod y rhan fwyaf o ddogfennau archifol yn cynnwys dogfennau a ffotograffiaeth, weithiau mae casgliadau'n cynnwys ychydig o wrthrychau, fel y rhain yng Ngwasanaeth Archifau Gorllewin Morgannwg. Mae'r rhain yn cynnwys bathodyn swyddwisg, helmed, a rhan o ddyfais diffodd a ddefnyddiwyd gan y Gwasanaethau Tân Cenedlaethol a Chynorthwyol yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd! This artwork held by Pembrokeshire Archives this artwork shows Carew Castle, displayed in a sketch by Charles Norris created in 1817. The castle is located in Tenby and has a history for being used for military purposes as far back as 200 years ago! Mae'r gwaith celf hwn sydd gan Archifdy Sir Benfro yn dangos Castell Caeriw, wedi'i arddangos mewn braslun o 1817 gan Charles Norris. Mae'r castell wedi'i leoli yn Ninbych-y-pysgod ac mae ganddo hanes o gael ei ddefnyddio at ddibenion milwrol mor bell yn ôl â 200 mlynedd! Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus i Bawb!! These images can be found in an album held by Pembrokeshire Archives, that is dedicated to Major H.D. Johns of the 218 Siege Battery. The album itself holds incredible images of the day to day lives of soldiers during WW1. It includes photographs of artillery guns in action, ruined building and images of other soldiers in the battalion!
