O Glamorgan Archives / Archifau Morgannwg, mae'r llythyr hwn yn disgrifio ymdrechion disgyblion Ysgol Heathfield House yng Nghaerdydd yn ystod haf yr Ail Ryfel Byd. Cyfrannodd y disgyblion drwy weithio ar ffermydd lleol; mae'r llythyr yn nodi bod grŵp o ferched wedi cael eu cludo mewn lori i ddechrau'r dasg hon am 9:45am ac y byddent yn dychwelyd am 6:30 gyda'r nos. From @glamarchives, this letter describes the efforts of the pupils at Heathfield House School in Cardiff during the summer of the WW2. The pupils contributed by working on local farms; the letter stating that a group of girls were taken by a lorry to begin this task at 9:45am and would return at 6:30 in the evening. Mae'r ddelwedd hon yn dangos dyn yn cario cwrwgl ar lan afon Dyfrdwy ger Pont Llangollen, tua 1910. Cwch bach di-gil yw cwrwgl, sydd â hanes diwylliannol cyfoethog, sy'n ymestyn yn ôl miloedd o flynyddoedd. Mae rhai paentiadau ogof o'r Oes Efydd yn manylu ar yr arfer o ddefnyddio cwrwgl ar gyfer pysgota, ac yn ôl pob tebyg, chredir ei bod hi'n debygol mai dyma'r math cyntaf o gludiant dŵr! This image shows a man carrying a coracle on the edge of the river Dee near Llangollen Bridge, c.1910. A coracle is small, keel-less boat which has a rich cultural history spanning back thousands of years. Some Bronze-age cave paintings even detail the practice of using a coracle for fishing and it is thought to likely be the first form of water transportation! In August 1984 the Women for Peace movement organized for a group of women to walk from Ebbw Vale, Cwm, Brynmawr, Abertillery & Aberbeeg to the Hinckley Point power plant in Somerset. The walk symbolised the communities resistance to nuclear power stations and protested pit closures and the loss of mining jobs. Ym mis Awst 1984 trefnodd mudiad Menywod dros Heddwch i grŵp o fenywod gerdded o Lynebwy, Cwm, Brynmawr, Abertyleri ac Aber-big i orsaf bŵer Hinckley Point yn Ngwlad yr Haf. Roedd y daith gerdded yn symbol o wrthwynebiad y cymunedau i orsafoedd pŵer niwclear ac yn protestio yn erbyn cau pyllau glo a cholli swyddi mwyngloddio. These documents, held by West Glamorgan Archive Service, show a programme for a 1909 game where Wales beat Ireland 18-5 in Swansea! It’s certainly more impressive than an Instagram lineup…. Dros ganrif yn ôl ym 1909, curodd Cymru Iwerddon 18-5 yn Abertawe. Mae'r rhaglen hon, o gasgliadau Wasanaeth Archifau Gorllewin Morgannwg, yn edrych yn wahanol iawn i'r lluniau Carfan Cymru a welwn heddiw ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol! Pwy sy'n gyffrous i Bencampwriaeth y Chwe Gwlad ddechrau?
