The Archives and Records Council Wales (ARCW) has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) this month, becoming the Coalition’s newest Full Member.
ARCW is the representative body for institutions and organizations across Wales involved in caring for archives. Established in 1995, ARCW works to influence policy, raise awareness of archive issues, and provide a collaborative forum for archive services and related organizations in Wales. It also supports joint projects, including initiatives in digital preservation, and brings together archive services to share knowledge and address common challenges.
“Archives and Records Council Wales is delighted to be joining the DPC,”says Dr. Lisa Snook, Chair of Archives and Records Council Wales. “As a membership body accustomed to working collaboratively, we look forward to working with the DPC to share knowledge of digital preservation across the archive sector in Wales. We would like to thank Welsh Government for their support to enable this to happen.”
Jane Winters, Chair of the DPC Board, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Archives and Records Council Wales to the Coalition. ARCW plays a key role in supporting archive services across Wales, and its work contributes directly to the long-term care of Welsh digital and documentary heritage. We look forward to working with ARCW, sharing experience and strengthening digital preservation practice together.”
The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
