Launch of Explore Your Archive 2017 campaign at Glamorgan Archives

On Friday the 17th of November Explore your Archive campaign will be officially launched by well known TV Presenter Mari Grug at Glamorgan Archives.

Explore your Archive Campaign aims to open the phenomenal archival collections held by organisations – public and private – across the UK and Ireland, whatever their size and scale, and wherever they are.
The campaign is owned by the sector itself and delivered by a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including The National Archives (UK) and the Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland), and is supported in Wales by Welsh Government.

Archives across Wales will be celebrating and showcasing the best of archives and archive services between the 18th of November and 26th of November 2017.

TV Presenter Mari Grug said:

“Visiting an archive can take you on an adventure  and you may end up discovering much more than you imagined. Archives enable all of us to discover the stories, the facts, the places and the people that are at the heart of our communities”

Rhian Diggins Senior Archivist at Glamorgan Archives added:

“The Glamorgan Archive Collection offers a window to the past, helping us to find out how people like us have lived their lives in the past, reflecting the transformation of Glamorgan from a rural community to an industrial stronghold which has powered world.”

Archives are full of fascinating content to read, touch and explore, and most of it isn’t available online. Take time to explore  archives – you’ll be amazed to find what lies within.
